Enjoy Creating and Growing a Sustainable Garden While Feeding Your Family

A sustainable garden means one that can be sustained over time, and would necessarily involve I) growing food you want to eat, so you are motivated to continue growing, II) growing economically, so that it is worthwhile doing, as well as III) taking care of environmental issues, so that the ground will continue to support growing.

I) The plants to be grown should be chosen primarily on what your family wants to eat, and what will grow in your locale. After that, Consider using heirloom seed rather than hybrid, if you are very concerned about losing the ability to replace seed each year from commercial sources. However, growing and saving your own seed is difficult and time consuming. An excellent answer to this dilemma is the Garden In A Can heirloom seed provided by Mountain Valley Seed Company (www.mvseeds.com). Other seed companies may have something similar. I recommend you buy a can of this triple-sealed seed, store it against the possible disaster, and then buy and use the best seed you can get and don’t worry about trying to grow for and save your own seeds.

II) Using the best growing practices, such as those taught by the world-renowned Dr. J. R. Mittleider, (see www.growfood.com)assure you the greatest yield of healthy vegetables from the least space, and with the least amount of labor and financial inputs per unit of production. A family can be self sufficient in their food requirements from proper gardening of just a small fraction of an acre, and this is the greatest evidence of success in achieving a sustainable garden.

III) Gardening should always be done without injuring the land, but rather should improve the land, so that it will continue to support healthy plants indefinitely. Therefore, pesticides and herbicides should be used very judiciously, and wherever possible these issues should be handled by cultural practices as taught by Dr. Mittleider such as 1) eliminating all weeds from the garden area, 2) watering only the plants’ root zone, 3) beginning plants in a protected environment for a fast, healthy and strong start, 4) feeding plants proper amounts of balanced natural mineral nutrients to assure fast and healthy growth, 5) harvesting all plants at maturity to avoid allowing pests and diseases to multiply, and 6) discarding any bug or disease infested plant parts away from the garden, and incorporating healthy plant parts into the soil to improve soil structure.

Jim Kennard, President of Food For Everyone Foundation, has a wealth of leadership, financial, business, teaching, and gardening training and experience upon which to draw in helping the Foundation in “Teaching the world to grow food one family at a time.” He is a retired CPA, practicing as managing partner in a Salt Lake City firm since 1972, and has also owned and successfully managed several businesses, including hotels, shopping centers, apartments, and retail establishments during the past twenty five years.

Jim has been a Mittleider gardener for the past twenty-eight years, he is a Master Mittleider Gardening Instructor, and has taught classes and worked one-on-one with Dr. Jacob Mittleider on several gardening projects in the USA and abroad, including projects in Armenia, Madagascar, and Turkey he has conducted by himself. He assists gardeners all over the world from the website FAQ pages and free Gardening Group, and grows a large demonstration garden at Utah’s Hogle Zoo in his spare time.

Do Your Homework Before You Create Your Product!

Here’s another great idea that the gurus are using to
create high profit online products.

It’s called an ‘ask page’ and is designed to let the
potential customers tell you what they want to buy.

For example: If you were going to write an ebook about growing vegetables,
why not put up a page, asking your potential customer what would be their number one question about growing vegetables.

Take your top 30 questions and use them as the bases of your product.

Now assuming you don’t know diddly about growing vegetables. What you do is…get someone who does know about growing vegetables, to write an e book for you!

Now you might be wondering, who that might be? Easy!
Just go to www.elance.com and get someone to do it for you. This is a website where people reverse bid to do the work for you.

This means they bid to the lowest price to see who will get the job.

How Good Is That?

People are willing to pay money for products that answer common questions about topics they are interested in.

Bird watchers will buy an e-book that helps them find more birds.

Aspiring musicians will pay for books that will help them learn how to play their favorite instrument.

Job seekers will buy e-books telling them how to find a new career.

The problem is that most of us are not experts in lots of subjects and don’t know what a potential consumer wants to know. That is where the market research comes in.

You can build a page dedicated to asking potential customers what they want to know and then use their information to create your product.

It’s that simple and easy!

Try it our before you think you have great idea and you fall in love with your product because most times people really don’t love your product like you do!

You Can, But Do You Need To?

You know him; you may even be him. Deftly wrist-driving an SUV in rush hour, cell phone cradled between ear and shoulder while simultaneously pecking his PDA as the GPS system maps out the quickest route to the next stop. Reveling in the orgy of technology that allowed him to focus on everything but staying between the white lines, I doubt he noticed me being forced onto the shoulder of the road. Gadgets are cool, but at 70 miles an hour, they lose some appeal.

Technology has increased productivity and efficiency at home and work, and it has reduced costs, particularly for business. It has also spawned digital junkies who can’t go longer than 15 minutes without a tech fix, even on vacation. Seriously, if the company can’t function for a week without you or if you can’t function without it, lie down quietly; the men in the white coats will be there shortly.

One of the unwritten laws of technology appears to be that the function that an item was originally designed to perform may well be the last thing it actually does. Take the cell phone, for instance. Ever try to find one that only accepts incoming calls and lets you dial out?

Cell phones handle e-mail, send text messages, browse the web, take pictures, let you play games, and keep appointment calendars. Mine even has a world time feature, in case I need to know that 3 pm in North Carolina is midnight in Tashkent. In case you’re wondering, Tashkent is in Uzbekistan, and a Google search through the phone even provides a city guide and a list of hotels should I ever decide to go there.

Adding more features is a uniquely American mindset that imagines if one (fill in the blank) is good, then two or three will be spectacular. That’s true if you want more than one. If you don’t, you’re out of luck. Eventually, it will cost you more to have fewer features because what is new today becomes standard tomorrow.

The push for more has its downside. Computer programs and applications are designed to let as many people as possible collaborate across a network of as many other programs and applications as possible. A worthy goal, but as interoperability increases, so does the possibility of a security breach because the vulnerabilities of each single system are multiplied. It’s like medicine – each drug has a specific purpose, but when you mix several of them, it is likely that some may not work or play well with others.

So how much technology is too much? Consider a Food Lion in Mooresville, N.C. where customers use handheld scanners, kiosks suggest recipes to compliment the bottle of wine in a shopper’s basket, and sales fliers and price tags may go the way of the corner butcher. Grocers and other merchants see technology as a means of fostering a better shopping experience. Your question is: do you want a ’shopping experience’, or to just want to buy a few things?

From a business to customer standpoint, technology makes shopping more convenient since people value nothing more than their time. That’s why online sales keep increasing. The potential downside is that in order to make ‘purchasing events’ smoother, merchants first want to gain as much personal information about their customers as possible.

That already happens in a low-level way and has for some time. The last time you bought electronics or clothing, were you asked for your zip code? Phone number? Address perhaps? In a statistical sense, that information is more demographic than personal. Gradually, information gathering is getting more detailed, to include brand preferences and buying habits. That’s how the grocery store “knows” to suggest the right wine to compliment your next dinner party. Exactly where convenience crosses into intrusion is a determination individual businesses must make for themselves.

In the office, technology streamlines tasks and processes, and it makes workers more productive. It also makes some of them obsolete. In short, technology has benefits if you’re clear about what the benefits are. Like medicine, technology can’t help you if you don’t use it right. And, it won’t keep your SUV moving in a straight line if your hands aren’t on the wheel.

Testosterone Enhancer: Tribulus Terrestris Herb and Eurycoma Longifolia

Testosterone Increase Info…

A testosterone enhancer is a term used to describe products that have been shown to or are suspected to cause a testosterone increase in healthy men. There are a great many products, usually herbal, on the market that make this claim. Sometimes referred to as boosters, non-prescription testosterone enhancers are classified as dietary supplements and so are not controlled or regulated by the FDA.

The FTC (Federal Trade Commission), however, will investigate fraudulent claims and the company must be able to provide evidence to support those claims.

Eurycoma Longifolia (Longjack) is one product that is said to be a testosterone enhancer. According to one manufacturer, informal studies have shown that this product may increase free testosterone. Notice how they always say “may”. It is not just a sales trick or a way to get around the FTC.

Different herbs affect people in different ways. Prescription drugs also affect people differently. So, it is correct to say that these products “may” cause a testosterone increase, because they could, but they might not. In short, there is no guarantee.

Some manufacturers do provide a satisfaction guarantee, so you can feel somewhat safe trying their products. If they do not work for you, you can return them. If you are experiencing symptoms related to testosterone deficiency, it will probably require some trial and error on your part before you find a testosterone enhancer that works for you, the way that you want it to.

Professional athletes also use herbal products to get a testosterone increase. Tribulus Terrestris is often called a testosterone enhancer.

It has been used in China, India and Greece for hundreds of years, but more recently was evaluated by a team of Bulgarian scientists in an effort to help their Olympic team without using anabolic steroids. The team actually credits their success that year to Tribulus.

Testosterone, produced naturally by the body, is known to increase muscle strength, endurance and stamina.

The question of cost often comes up. Purchasing herbal supplements can be expensive.

Companies that seem to be selling the same product for a much lower price than their competitors may be adding chemicals to their products in order to cut costs. Chemicals are cheaper than herbs, because they can be created synthetically. Buying in bulk is not the best idea, either. Products tend to loose their efficacy sitting on a shelf.

Buy toilet paper in bulk; buy an herbal supplement or a testosterone enhancer on an as needed basis, usually a 30 day supply, to achieve the greatest testosterone increase.

Your Wedding Financial Advice

By now, you may have come across some services which require a deposit. Is it normal? Yes. Nevertheless, you should ALWAYS (we can’t emphasize the word “always” enough) receive a receipt for your deposit. The purpose of this deposit is to guarantee that you are serious about hiring this specific company to perform a function on a specific date. Typically, if the date is changed or you no longer wish to use this person’s services-your deposit will be lost. If you read the fine print, it usually states such a clause in any contract you may have signed.

It’s important that when planning for wedding finances that you read all of the details in a written contract prior to signing it. A verbal agreement may not coincide with what is actually written on the document. Make sure that everything that has been verbally agreed upon is included in the contract. Otherwise, you may be in for a disappointment. Contracts you may need to consider in marriage and wedding planning are life insurance, and the prenuptial agreement if you decide on using one.

The hardest part of your financial planning for the wedding itself will most likely be the caterer. Keep in mind: it’s very normal to see the caterer’s bill plus tax and gratuity. Gratuity ranges anywhere from 15% – 20%. Unfortunately, you will most likely pay for missing people on a per plate charge, in addition to paying for the plates of other vendors/staff that you may not have included in your planning. It’s important to check the bill for all accuracies prior to paying for catering services.

You may be feeling very generous, as you’re celebrating one of the most special occasions in your life. But it’s important to remember that tipping is an expression of gratuity. It’s for those who go over and beyond your expectations. If you want to do something spectacular, type up a wonderful letter which reflects your happiness with that vendor’s work efforts. This is something that they can use in their portfolio to gain more prospective clients.

Sometimes, there are instances where a specific person can not take a tip of money. For instance, many clergy men do not accept financial gifts. For this person, a gift of a donation to church or a gift certificate to a restaurant will be a wonderful way of saying “thank you.”

Nevertheless, there are specific times when tipping is very important. Generally, anytime there’s a delay on your part, which makes your vendors wait-these people should be tipped. For instance: if your musicians play overtime; they should be tipped. This is a perfect example of someone who goes above and beyond their responsibilities. It’s also a true indication of a professional.

Perfume Your Garden and Home with Gardenias

One of my favorite plants is the large white-flowered Mystery Gardenia (gardenia jasminoides) that grows to about 5′ tall and wide. The perfume-like scent adds an exotic feeling to gardens. Plus, the large white flowers show up well in moonlight when many people more likely get a chance to take pleasure in their garden.

If you want to enjoy gardenias, plant them where they get sun. Most people plant gardenias in the shade because these plants love the same soil as shade-loving camellias and azaleas. However, gardenias can take full sun and prefer at least half a day of sunlight. Gardenias will not bloom well in the shade.

Don’t over water your gardenias. Keep the soil surface moist, but not soggy. Don’t let them dry out too much during flowering or they will drop their buds. To keep your plants from drying out, mulch well.

Gardenias also like rich organic soil, azalea/camellia fertilizer, and iron. If your gardenias get yellow leaves, they most likely need more iron. During the growing season, feed your gardenias every three weeks.

Don’t get harsh when pruning gardenias. They need some leaves left on the stock so they can get nutrition. Prune after blooming but before fall so the plant gets a chance to grow and form new flowers for the next spring bloom.

Gardenias bloom from late spring well into summer. Besides the glorious creamy-white blooms, they give your garden a gorgeous deep green backdrop all year long.

Plant gardenias near your entry door to welcome guests and yourself with the invigorating perfume-like scent. Just one or two flowers floating in a bowl of water fills your home with natural fragrance. With over 200 species of gardenias, you’re sure to find just the perfect variety at your local nursery for your garden.

What Exactly Is Virtual Web Hosting?

So you have decided that you want to start a website, or even an e-commerce site. You have managed the site design, and have even purchased a domain name, but now what? You will never get any visitors to your site if it isn’t accessible via the web. The only way to do that is by using a server. The server will maintain a permanent connection with the web and on the server will be stored all the information about your website. In effect, users will come onto the server access your website and then when they decide to move to another website they will access information from another server. So, the real question is, what type of server do you need?

For all individual users and most small e-commerce users, virtual web hosting is the way to go. The other option, having a dedicated server, means that you will actually go out and purchase a big and very expensive piece of hardware that will be used for your website alone. Virtual web hosting is, essentially, renting a small piece of someone else’s server. Virtual web hosting which is also called shared hosting, because it usually means many different sites are all located on a single server, and is vastly more economical than owning and maintaining your own server. But beyond just economics, there are a great number of reasons to use virtual web hosting rather than dedicated hosting.

One primary reason is downtime. Running a server is often quite a bit more complex than running your own personal computer. There is a real need to stay on top of technological advancements, watch for usage spikes, and maintain adequate bandwidth access. A server is hardware that must stay in constant contact with the internet if people are to be able to access your site. As a result, trying to manage all of the aspects of a server, in order to ensure that the individuals are able to access your website all the time, can easily be a full time job. A job which, for most individuals and small companies, is simply unreasonable.

Consequently, the virtual web hosting industry has flourished. With easy to use interfaces, individuals who have no experience with internet hosting, or building their own website for that matter, are able to set up an account with a virtual web hosting company. These companies also often provide one stop shopping services such as email forwarding, data transfer, backup services for your website in case of a crash, technical support, and often your own set of email addresses specifically for your website.

All of these features are ultimately designed for one purpose, to make the process of putting up and managing a website a realistic possibility for individuals and small companies that would otherwise find the prospect of hiring a full time staff to maintain hosting impossible. The ease of use and the affordability of virtual web hosting have harnessed the power of economic collaboration to provide individuals and companies with a practical way to get and keep their site on the web.

Paul Herbert writes about a variety of web development topics and recommends Net Explorers ( www.hosting-netexplorers.co.uk/ ) for UK web hosting.

Elements Of Successful Corporate Web Sites

Many companies have their own web sites. It is essential element in modern business. Process of creating a company’s web site is one of the most important steps for having a successful Internet presence. Many people will get the first impression by visiting your web site. If you sell software like our company Infacta, Ltd. you will probably have clients in different parts of the world. Majority of them will never even come to your office. They will visit your web site and if they like what (and how) you offer they will buy your software online. You have to enable to your clients, prospective clients and press to easily find what they want. So you can see that this way, your company’s web site is even more important than your company’s offices. In e-business bytes & skills are more important than brick & mortar. Successful corporate web sites have several common elements. In this article you will learn about them.

First important thing in creating your corporate web site is that you have to be aware of the fact that creation of your web site is not one-man-show or one department’s job. Usually, marketing department with technical stuff is working on corporate web sites, but they have to get timely information from all structure of your company. Your web site has to be often updated and to offer accurate information. Today, many web sites are database-driven, using certain Content Management System (CMS) so this way every employee can easily add what they want and what is under their authority.

About Us category

We’ve already said that your web site is your global representative. You have to make a category where you will write about your company, your area of business, core values, mission and vision. But that is not enough! It is recommended to put information about your key people, with their brief biographies and preferably with photos. It gives a more human touch to your web site. Many web sites also have an Investor Relations section in their About Us category where people can see the structure of the company, information how they can invest in them if they are looking for outside investments. Investor Relations is also important because many people decide whether or not to deal with one company based on their investors. This way they can get some scoop how stable is that company (if it is publicly traded). Some other people prefer more privately-held companies because usually those kinds of companies are more flexible and innovative and offer better communication with their clients. Some people like to be with bigs, while others know that size doesn’t matter.

Also, in this section you can write about hiring new people. Even if you are not looking for new stuff at the moment, you can enable to your prospective employees to enter their details so they can be contacted later if you will have need for their skills. There are also some companies that have Careers section only to show that they are always expanding and looking for talented stuff, although in reality they never do that.

In case you are in a big city, it is recommended to explain the best way how people can find you, to offer best directions and the map with your location on it.

Products and Services category

In the category for products and services beside detailed information, you should offer information about your clients, partners, testimonials and awards you have won. This gives additional credibility to your company. In case you are selling software or services, you can offer a free trial period or free software with limited features. This is the best way to persuade your prospective clients to make a decision and buy your products.

News and Events category

In this category are placed information primarily for the media but also for clients and visitors. One of the sections you should have is Press Releases where you will publish all important news about your company and products that can be interested for the press that watch your area of business. Next section, which is complementary with the previous one, is Media Clipping where you will place all information about appearance of your company in the press. In case you are regular conference exhibitor, speaker or attendee it is good to place your event calendar. This way your target audience will see how serious you are in watching latest trends in your industry and promoting your company. Also, event calendar is useful because of the possibility for direct meeting. If your CEO or other high-level executive is frequent speaker at conferences and trade shows this gives additional weight to your expertise.

At last, but not the least important is that you should have a section called Media Kit or Press Centre that is aimed primarily for the press and where you will give brief description about your company, your products, your President or CEO and the person for PR contact. In this section it is extremely important to place your company and product logos in different resolutions and to place several high-resolution photos of your CEO that is suitable for publishing in print magazines.

Contact Us category

You have to offer different ways to be contacted. Beside email, you have to offer phone contact and to write your snail-mail address. Some companies have toll-free phone numbers for their prospective clients and customers. For email communication, it is good that you enable your visitors to enter their details using a web form and that they can choose which department they want to contact. You have to bear in mind that you have to answer your emails at least within 2 business days because it is important indicator about how professional you are. If you are busy, or out of town, make an auto responder message where you can direct your clients to other appropriate person or to write when you will be able to reply.

Playing let it Ride Poker is easy, and it’s a thrilling to play and suitable for all players whatever their experience.

Playing Let it Ride Poker has the added advantage of being able to let your bets ride and possibly win a huge pot quickly!

The dealer then deals each player three cards and takes two community cards placed face down.

After seeing their first three cards each player has the choice to take one of their three bets back or to leave it on the table and ‘let it ride’ forward.

The dealer then turns over one of the two community cards.

These community cards apply to all hands dealt.

players then have the option to take out another bet or to ‘let it ride’.

The player may leave their bet in or take it out the second time regardless of their first play.

When this is completed the dealer then shows the second and final community card.

Winners are paid based on hands which are better than a pair of 10s, where the pair of 10s pays even money.

Playing Let It Ride Poker and winning the game

When you receive your first three cards, take your bet back if you do NOT have the following cards:

Pair of tens or better or three of a kind
Three cards to a flush with a 10 or better
Three cards to a straight flush or three cards to a royal flush
When receiving your fourth card, take your bet back if you do NOT have the following cards
Pair of tens or better or two pair
Three of a kind or four of a kind
Four-card flush or four-card straight flush or royal flush
Keep in mind that you can remove your second bet even if you let your first bet remain.

Playing let it ride poker table limits

Many casinos impose a table limit of $25,000 in Let it Ride Poker, which of course is designed to protect the casino from you winning too much!

So make sure you check the casino rules when playing let it ride poker to avoid frustration

A limit of $25,000 means that if you have a 15 bet and ride on each of the three betting circles and you get a royal flush you will only receive $25,000 instead of $45,000 if no table limit were present.

Why play let it ride poker?

Well it’s a bit like playing a progressive slot machine your after the big pot. The real attraction is the thrill of letting it ride and looking to collect a big pot at the end of the game.

Add in the fact that it is exciting, easy to play and great fun and you can see why playing let it ride poker is such a popular game.

One word of caution: The house edge is 3.5% so when you play expect to lose, have some fun and if you win it’s a bonus! But keep in mind winning the game can be very satisfying – Due to the size of the pot!
