Chamonix Haute Savoie is found at the base of the wonderful Mount Blanc in the European Alps and is regarded as the mountaineering and extreme ski holiday centre of Europe. The town has been known for a long time as a veritable resort for extreme activities in winter and summer. The resort hosted the inaugural Winter Olympics back in the early 1920s – furthermore it is also a domain of outstanding views providing a lot of different things to the skier and sightseer.

But unlike a lot of modern ski areas Chamonix town isn’t a modern ski resort and has been mostly preserved from the monstrosities that blights a majority of the European Alps. Chamonix is lucky to have not only a world renowned skiing domain but an elegant and energetic centre.

The town is big enough to insure there is enough for the tourist to do and see. However you choose to enjoy your vacation there is an activity to suit everyone. From a big sports center, spas, casino and weekly market; and lots of designer shops, restaurants and night-clubs, Chamonix offers a mix of climbing, town charm and going out, that not many mountain areas can come close to.
