Finding Neutral: the Garden Office

Discuss the subject of working from home, and you’re likely to experience a heated debate. On one side, some individuals claim that it’s wonderful, there’s no car drive required, no office politics, no wasted time by simply having to be in one place for a set time, no senseless group meetings, no tedious chatter. But on the other side of the argument, others say they simply could not find the self-discipline that’s required to be a telecommuter. They might be a tad reluctant to invite any customers to their home. There’s simply too many distractions to even get started. Finally, the office is wonderful because they wish to get away from the house.

Now there’s an alternative for these naysayers : garden offices. Garden studios are constructed in your own back garden, separate from your house. A garden studio gives you an opportunity to get business done in a peaceful, creative environment, with the natural garden viewable from your office windows, and a quiet location to hold group meetings.

The idea that the garden office is isolated from your house is an essential one. It gives you a chance to break away from domesticity to business life. Utilizing technology like the net and VOIP, you can also very easily obtain your own telephone number purely for the garden office.

Think about other plus points of a garden office:-

- The costs for garden studios are reasonable when you equate renting costs for offices.
– They are environmentally friendly : the journey from home to garden office expends only human footprints, not carbon ones.
- That short commute saves you a great amount of petrol costs, and may even mean your household needs only one car, not two.
- You can work anytime. Creative juices don’t automatically flow from nine to five, so if you have a new idea, or only need to finish off a job ahead of time, walk into the garden studio.
- It’s a comfortable, well-lit, natural environment. No bright light strips, grey walls and non-specific background-noise a normal office has.

Garden offices can pay for themselves in just a few years, and loan repayments for a garden studio can be similar, or less than, office rental costs.
