I want to express my gratefulness toward Kingsbury waterpark in the West Midlands for a day that would have pretty easily resulted in a tragedy if it wasn’t for their fast thinking staff. We travelled about 50 miles with a car filled with excited children who couldn’t wait to go fishing. The moment we reached, we got down and positioned our camp beside the fishing section of the park, fired up the barbecue and positioned the deck chairs in the sun. We sat the kids along with the parks fishing rods, cheerfully fishing away. I had known before that they would get bored in 30 minutes of not catching a single fish, however those half-hour were better than zero minutes. I was keeping one eye on the kids and one eye on the grill when I heard a whistle blow three times. This was same as the sound in a school swimming class and when the students are practising a get out of the pool drill.I was stunned to notice that one of the children was missing from the chair by the embankment. I right away ran to the park employees to get the child pulled out of the waters. When he felt a bite he was already over excited, he lost balance and fell in the water. The employees was so fast in grabbing the kid, as he did not know swimming, his head did not even go inside the water. I was so happy seeing him alright, it could have been tough to describe this to his mother.Slowly everything came back to normal, I thanked the employees of the waterpark and we tucked towards the grill. The kids were creaming the trauma as it was worth and seeing this I thought it was my fault at the first place I allowed them as they were pleading to go cycling on some tandems that were avaliable for hire. Going for cycling didn’t turn out to be fine. The same child who was about to get drowned because of my foolish blunder, now began throwing a good amount of sausages which he had just eaten on the barbecue because we had gone pretty far on the bicycle ride. I was certain not to win the guardian or mum of the year reward now! My son’s buddy was OK, however I’m glad that the other children loved the tour, it is weird though, we have not seen that kid since then.
